Yesterday Cech got nowhere near the ball but brought down the Sunderland player for a penalty.

No red card though.

Can we say that was a genuine attempt to play the ball? I don't think so. For me it was an OGSO.

I think it is always likely to be seen as a genuine attempt when the keeper dives at a player's feet, even if they are really late. Also, Watmore pushed it wide, and Koscielny was back covering, so even under the old laws I'm not sure it would have been obvious enough for DOGSO.
 
Also is the fact that the faster defender was getting the ball, which was going wide anyway.

I really would have preferred him sent off, so it pains me that that he rightly stayed on! ;) many reruns or match of the day confirm that decision, despite me wanting it otherwise!
