I doubt any football association will realise the impact until it bites them on the arse for the first time.

And there's a good argument to say that there's nothing honourable in both teams during the recent ball tampering in SA. Or indeed, across the leading test playing nations in general.

There's a lot I don't like about football but the image of the game does get an unfavourable deal from the press and public compared with other sports. Match fixing, ball tampering and sledging have been an issue in cricket for years. Athletics and cycling, to name only two, are rife with drugs cheats. Even the 'gentlemans' game of rugby has issues such as the infamous Bloodgate scandal a few years ago or faking injuries to allow uncontested scrums or additional substitutions after the limit has been reached.
