IFAB have just put out a tweet saying that they have a new website called ‘rules of the game’ and also called them rules multiple times in their tweet.

I have always avoided calling them rules as I thought it was strictly laws!

That’s been out there for a month or so. it’s the trend of IFAB to go with the flow on language. This is really a simplified version for convenience. Shrug. If we have handballs and penalty shootouts now, why not rules? Shrug.

On the site, the IFAB basically says that they are trying to provide a version of the laws that is more user-friendly for the general public, including using terms that they are more familiar with. Such as calling them "rules" rather than "laws."
