Assistant referee pathway

I know that at the top levels you can have officials who are specialised as an assistant and do mostly lines rather than middles but what level do you need to be before you are given the opportunity to choose? Or is simply a case of being assessed and the FA coming to the conclusion that you are better as an assistant?

Get to level 3 as a referee first work hard and see what happens

Like Jacko says, get to Level 3 first.

Then top 45 in the Asst chart at Panel games, so you become a FL assistant. Level 2 are automatically FL Assts.

Then do really, really well at FL to get PL assistant.
