Referees World Podcast - Referees World - Young Referees Development Plan pt1

Enjoyed you being there Richard! Looking forward to the podcasts for us throughout the season.

    Club Marks

It's hard.. But refs sec's at Supply should be marking you subjectively on your performance and not on that 92nd minnute penalty you awarded ;). But seriously, it's just a matter of you refereeing with a degree of common sense and following the laws (but not being officious with them!).

    Spare top in bag

Yep, I also have three full kits with me all the time. Just incase we have a downpour like you describe during a game.

    Blogging about games

You're right on that Ross. There can be some controversy on forums . I'd be all for you doing it too Dave, just be careful with what you say and use it as more of a development tool for you, in that you're mainly talking about your performance and not the 'gobby no.9 who didn't shut it all...

    Blogging about games

This is a good idea, just like keeping a log book really. But as you say, be careful not to say anything derogatory against any of the teams that you ref. You could also review it at the end of the season (and alongside any assessments you have) and see if there is anything for you to improve...

now a level 7 ref.. where do i go now? advice please

Yep, echo your RDO and Ross.. Get some experience working with L4's on the UCL, and ask them questions galore post-game if you can. Every experience helps in this game. A pre-season friendly would be a good non-competitive way to see how you deal with adult football, but still look at doing...

    Buzzer flags

Dan, there are a set of Ervocoms on there at the moment. They are £380 or offers, but the seller has had 9 offers and not sold yet so I can assume he wants the best part of £350 for them. Or as Dave says there seems to be good feedback for Refs Call flags, are they are considerably cheaper at...

    Question

Danny, the only thing I know of about conflict with where you're from is that on the Fl, you have to 'declare an interest', i.e. Tell the suits who you support and that way you don't get appointed to their games on the line or in the middle.

    Awful Match Yesterday

As Ross said, it's just sending them away from the vicinity of the FOP, not always to their car but I knew her car was the only place for her to go where she wouldn't have frozen (being as it was December!). Again going from what Ross said, it is amazing how fast people will tell others to move...

    Awful Match Yesterday

Wow Andy, doesn't sound like a good game. Just 'one of those days' where nothing seems to go right for you. Did it involve two notorious teams or did they just kick off? Anything in the game; decisions-wise that could have brought the temperature of the game up or was it the mass confrontation...

Coloured Kits - Would you wear one?

I don't know Ross, colours would be good. But as I said, especially if you work in teams (L4 +) then they should stipulate that you have to get a yellow (for ease) as an alternative if you wish to have one. That then negates the 'colour mish-mash' that you bring up.

Coloured Kits - Would you wear one?

I may be unpopular, but if my some miracle as you said allowed us, then yes I would be in support of them. But not willy nilly, they should only be allowed should the kits clash, so black at all times unless the referee found they clashed with the other teams in which case they would have a...

Coming to you live from a windy park.....

Strange one. May be something he 'likes' to do? Unsure. I mean, there is nothing to say we can't wear shin pads.. But still, slightly puzzling.

Luiz was a lucky boy wasn't he?

Well on the subject of Luiz, Mr Dean has admitted he was wrong and should have sent him off, either he'll be taking a rest this weekend or be lucky to have a game. With the Cahill one, the ban has now been overturned by the FA so they have acknowledged Attwell was wrong, however in my opinion it...

    Photos of members in action

Haha, I know what you're saying Parny.. These Northern Irish guys like to do it the 'European' way :P. But he didn't have the lime and only a green Wembley so instead of it being awkward with black (as Queen of the South were wearing black/blue). We decided it was the best course of action. I...

    New kit

I can echo what Ross said. Having a PGMO kit at Level 5 is no sign of big headedness. In my opinion, it is all about how you look to anyone. First impressions count a lot in this game and having a smart kit is one of them. I would never veer off from wearing my PGMO kit if you paid me, it looks...

    Well that was awful!

Strange that. I seem to remember them saying that match based was being brought in countrywide in line with the pro game.

    Whinge, complain, moan..

Good on you. It's correct with LOAF and there are no arguements to be had. They might not like it, but it's how it goes i'm afraid. I had whinging galore today, had a player call me a "f***ing joke" after I gave a free-kick and from the free-kick the other team scored. So off he went, on the up...

    Well that was awful!

Well Match-based suspension was brought in over the summer and the onus was on the fact that now there could be no appeals without video evidence/proven mistaken identity.. God knows what happened in that case then Glenn, i'm puzzled..
