I think Michael Owen also has Tourette's.

    Tourettes -how much leaway?

I think it's better, if you have the time to watch/read something online about kids with Tourette's. It does not seem realistic to me that a coach would do that and in most cases it'll be clear to you that the kid has indeed Tourette's, as most tics have nothing to do with obscenities, motor...

    Tourettes -how much leaway?

It might be better. But the kid and their parents are the ones who know what works in that specific case. And I'm pretty sure they have consulted with the coach and the other players as well. Just talk with the coach and/or the parents before the game. They have been dealing with it for a long...

    Tourettes -how much leaway?

James, the symptoms might get worse with fatigue, anxiety and stress. A game of football will provide all three. But sport in general and in the long run seems to be helpful for many. You might want to check out some TS literature, it might help you in dealing with the situation. I don't think...

    Tourettes -how much leaway?

Tourette symptoms are getting worse with anxiety, stress and fatigue. I'm no referee, but have some experience in the mental health field: you should not penalize someone for these issues, especially a teenager. Communicating it with the opposition team beforehand should be enough.

If it was properly communicated beforehand than that's more than sensible.

    Handball? (Hungarian league)

After his career, Sandor Puhl (the Hungarian ref at the 1994 WC final and the 1997 CL final) was a TV pundit. He always used the expression: "if the hand 'searched for' the ball, it's a handball, if the ball 'searched for' the hand, it's not" . I don't know if that was a better rule (or rule...

    Handball? (Hungarian league)

This week's controversy in the Hungarian league concerns a handball situation. It was not given (not even after the VAR review). Was it because he didn't made himself unnaturally bigger and his hand was not above his shoulder either (this are the two suggestions)? Cheers and thanks in advance!

Is this player in active play?

Thanks again, this clears it up. Law 11 could be more deliberate in its wording I feel.

Is this player in active play?

Thanks for your quick answer. The argument was about whether the "active play decision" should be based on the moment the ball clears the attacking players' head, or the play afterwards. Let me put it this way, if the ball went towards the other side of the goal, would the blocking player be...

Is this player in active play?

Hi, I've just registered, as I was looking for an answer to a refereeing question about an incident that generated lots of arguments. On Sunday Ferencvaros played MOL Fehervar, and in the 7th minute, conceded a goal from a header after a corner, where the player who was blocking the keeper at...
