    Man U v PSG

Gentlemen, we are going round in circles. We all have our own interpretation of this incident, and as is evident we are all firm believers in our own views. We shall have to agree to disagree. But, I will say this. Expect penalties to be awarded for this situation if it happens in the future.

    Man U v PSG

The defender deliberately turns into not away from the ball from a reasonable distance away from the ball for him to know exactly what he is doing.

    Man U v PSG

Turning your back is a deliberate act, and as the arm is part of that motion , that too is a deliberate act. Especially, as in this case the arm moves towards the ball. If the arm is not moving towards the ball deliberately, how did it arrive in that position at the moment of impact?

    Man U v PSG

I fully support your right to disagree with whoever you wish. However I struggle to understand how you can claim that the IFAB are wrong, when they are the organisation responsible for the LOTG. I personally am pleased at long last the correct application of the laws is happening. British...

    Man U v PSG

The IFAB, UEFA, and the head of referees Roberto Rosetti all clearly state that it was a penalty, and Master Po agrees!

    Man U v PSG

By jumping in front of the shot and at the same time turning your back to the ball you are deliberately moving your arm towards the ball...

    Man U v PSG

If a defender turns his/her back on a shot they are by definition not in a natural position. By jumping and making their body bigger they are also in an unnatural position. So for me it's a stonewall penalty. We have to remember that VAR is intolerant to subjective views and will enforce the laws.

    penalty spot in a dip

This came up at one of our RA meetings. The guidance given wast he ball could in this situation be placed next to or behind the mark. The thinking being as long as the taker didn't get an advantage by the placement all was well.

    Wolves v Everton

In real time I thought it was just a mistimed challenge. However the slow motion replay shows just how dangerous it was. Hands up, If I was in the middle I would definitely have missed it. I think it's a brilliant call by Craig Pawson, and a really good example of first class refereeing.

    Match 3 - Spain : Portugal

Very much the same as "Umpire's Call" in Cricket. Glad to see the Referee still has some authority. VAR seems to be working fine so far and adding value to this World Cup.

    Buffon leaves his mark

Very clever Italian defending. That unfortunately for the defender doesn't come off. Push in the back and try to cover it with a careless foul in the hope the ref buys it. Fortunately Michael Oliver is a class act and saw the Penalty offence. Great refereeing, and Buffon has no argument...

    VAR England v Italy

In two recent games where the VAR has been used it seems to have replaced the referee as being in charge of the game. My concern is that referees have now become assistants to the VAR. Last night I don't believe the game expected a penalty to be awarded. Either a corner or goal kick was...

    Tottenham v Rochdale

I'm sorry. I should have been clearer. I'm of the view that Son did not feint at the end of his run, but midway which is legal and we see this type of penalty taken very frequently. My point is I would have blown as soon as the ball was kicked and had a retake. Sorry for any confusion.

    Tottenham v Rochdale

I don't see where he's getting two goes. The original take is not legal as there is blatant encroachment from both sides. Once the players have returned to correct positions the kick can then be taken. Appreciate it's subjective but that is my view.

    Tottenham v Rochdale

I believe the penalty should have been retaken as players from both sides were not positioned correctly before the ball was kicked. The referee's decision punished Spurs and in particular Son who received a caution for feinting at the end of his run. I believe Rochdale gained an unfair advantage...

    Tottenham v Rochdale

Run up perfectly legal IMO. Taker is allowed to feint in his run up not allowed to feint once he has completed the run up! Agree with you on the other two points. Extremely poor refereeing. Not once has he gone to look at the screen himself so who exactly is refereeing this game?

    Tottenham v Rochdale

VAR is an absolute joke! If this continues it will destroy the beautiful game. 1. Why was the opening goal disallowed? 2. Did we really need VAR to award the penalty, could the referee not see clearly for himself? and 3. Why was the penalty not retaken for the encroachment?

    Wigan - Man City

Red for me too. Distance, speed, and force used to make the challenge is enough to make the call.

Kicking the ball to a player's head while in play

For all the nuances of the book of words, and whether it's correct in Law or not. This is clearly Violent Conduct all day long, and clearly a RC! Just ask yourself how wrong would you feel if you didn't issue it?
