    Assistant Referee Flagging For Penalty

Believe it was an upper English ref thing, never part of the laws and not really used outside English competition. That's as far as I know anyway.

    Scunthorpe United vs Plymouth Argyle

Not sure if anyone watched the game on TV but I found it very strange that the officials decided to wear the green shirt despite the away team also wearing green. I was in the ground and was often mistaking the referee for a Plymouth player when the ball went towards him. Other than that thought...

    Tottenham v Rochdale

Not sure he took 'several' more steps, my memory tells me it was one more step, not sure it changes much though.

    Dale v Spuds

Is it possible to give a penalty and caution the player for simulation or would that be contradictory in law?

    Yeovil V Crawley Town

I would say the first red is bang on, first yellow, off the ground, dangerous. Defo not worthy of a red but I would have yellowed and the second looks a clear hack, easy 2nd yellow. It is really hard to see if there's any contact on the second red, looks harsh at a glance but if there's definite...

    Throw-in wording

I've only had it once where have had to give a foul throw for foot on the pitch (as an assistant) and his foot was definitely not touching the line, comically so. However I have had one or two CAR's flag for foot on the pitch foul throws only for me to wave them away for the this very reason, It...

    Tom Davies shin pads

There's no regulation size, but the law states they must provide a reasonable degree of protection and I think it can be argued that they do not provide such protection

    Tom Davies shin pads

Currently watching Everton's europa league tie and noticed Davies' shin pads, it looks as though he has none on at all. Does anyone else think that his shin pads don't constitute 'reasonable degree of protection'?

    Starting to Ref

It would be good to get yourself a pair of black boots, if you can't get them right now, in the short term it doesn't matter too much although it is one of the pieces of kit I recommend getting first. If you have a look on A & H they have a boots section and A & H is generally good for...

    4th Official

Got some friendlies handed to me at a couple of the non-league clubs as the local head of RA is trying to make it an all local RA affair at these games. One game given to me is as a 4th, not entirely sure what I'll be doing, I'm sure I'll get walked through it their but if there's anyone that...

    Junior/Youth Dress Code

Well, if it is a normal match I come ready in kit normally with a jacket on. The only time you'll wear shirt and tie is if it is for either a final or if the league rules suggest you should. Other than that I don't think I've ever gotten changed at a match mostly due to the unreliability of a...

    Finding out club mark average

Only time I've been told club marks is when I got 100 from both teams. I paid no attention to it, at that point the marks are useless as I know for a fact that I didn't have a perfect game and I probably never will.

    Junior/Youth Dilemma time.....

I assumed NAR based on him not specifying but I'm not sure why...

    Junior/Youth Dilemma time.....

Surely if the assistant is going mad he's sure it's deliberate.

    Clash of Heads

The only time I've insisted a player got taken off was when I asked the player a few questions, he didn't know where they were playing or how many players were on his team at the time (they were down a couple of guys) so I asked him to go off. He didn't want to go off, but I was worried for his...

    Best ground / team reffed

Best ground is the Hawthorns (not the one that springs to mind first) Brigg Town FC's ground. Done about 5 finals on their and a couple of other games... not much prestiege around it. I've been to better changing rooms in local county league games. Best team is probably Scunthorpe United U16's...

Mark Clattenburg - Arsenal vs Hull

This is a bit frustrating. Football laws should be universal the PGMOL shouldn't be able to pick and choose what they want. Laws are there for a reason.

Mark Clattenburg - Arsenal vs Hull

Doesn't looks deliberate to me at that distance. Has no time to react, if it was a defender in his own box I think it may be possible people say it would be harsh to give it. That must be the view the assistant referee has of it due to his unobstructed position. I haven't properly seen the DOGSO...

    Junior/Youth Kicking the ball away

Surely it is stoppage time? Isn't it down to the referee to decide what he can and can't add on?

    Goal or No Goal?

I was there and it looked in, all the players thought it was in and you can tell the fans thought it was in, this is an image the photographer caught which seems to suggest it hit the stanchion and came out.
