    Bit harsh ref!!!

How on earth the referee has failed to dismiss him for that is beyond me!

    Interesting Line up

West Ham did that a few times when Allardyce was in charge - load up the left hand side of the centre circle with 5 players, play the ball back and hoof it upfield. Never worked, mind you

Penalty for provoking attacker inside penalty area with light push?

Sounds spot on to me. A push is a foul. Maybe that'll teach the defender not to be so stupid in the future!

    GoalKick

Those arguing against a goal because of 'match control' or the atmosphere or the match - I personally think that if the OP scenario happened in anything other than a professional game of football, that the expected decision from the players and crowd would be goal. The GK's teammates would be...

    Open Age Outsmarting the ref.

Playing as a fullback a few years ago, we had a 'centre circle ref'. We was missing lots and I was getting pretty frustrated. Anyway, winger beats me, and travels in the penalty box. As he pulls back his leg to shoot (at this point, he's about 10 yards from goal), I think 'f*** it', and wipe him...

    Man Utd vs Bournemouth

Have to say, and I'm sure I'll be slated for saying so, but I don't think the 'stamp' deserved a red. In my opinion he's been tripped by Rooney trying to stand up and has lunged to try and stay on his feet. The contact with Ibra's head, although it looked bad, was not intentional, and I can't...

    AR Flags

You should've told them they were the £500 touchline flags, and that they'd need to replace the whole set (plus 4th official stick, obviously) :D

    AR Flags

I've been using touchline flags with CARs for the last two years, and they're still in good condition. The cloth flags themselves could probably do with replacing as they've gone a bit soft and slide down the pole a little, but they've definitely not been mistreated.

    Minutes silence

Nice one, thanks. All went well!

    Minutes silence

I have a senior cup game this afternoon with the rare treat of NARs :O The respect handshake is mandatory, and I am anticipating being asked to hold a minutes silence before the game for the Chapecoense disaster. Which comes first? I'm assuming you'd lead the teams out, do the minutes silence...

    "In the back ref"

Something I always used to struggle with too. First few balls in the air now, whether they be goal kicks, throw ins, corners etc I'll give a loud shout of 'hands down please!' or 'watch the hands!'. Since I've been doing this, it seems to cut down the amount of pushing that goes on. That being...

    Penalty Kick and Injured player

Fair enough, I considered that would be the case but would rather get a second opinion. :D new scenario: exactly the same as the first one in OP (player received treatment and is asked to leave the FOP). Another player steps up to take the pen and it is saved, but the assistant is flagging for a...

    Penalty Kick and Injured player

Defender commits a careless foul inside his own penalty area, conceding a penalty. The attacker that was fouled (who is also the teams main penalty taker) is injured in the challenge, and requests treatment. After a quick spray from the water bottle, he springs up and requests to take the...

    Overhead kick

Game on Saturday, white v red. Red are 3-0 up in a well tempered game, with only one caution to white player for delaying the restart. 90+4 with about 10 seconds left to play and red have a corner kick. Ball is lofted into the box and cleared by a defender to the edge of the crowded penalty...

    Bravo in the Manchester Derby

He's jumped into the challenges with studs showing. Anywhere else on the pitch it's a FK and red card.

    Pen or no pen?

I used to do that all the time. Been spotted by players during several heated games where I was at risk of loosing control, and they've absolutely exploded over it. Try and get it out of your game, because if you haven't had a problem with it yet, there'll be a time when you do, and you'll wish...

    Pen or no pen?

Sounds like a pen to me. Attacker not having the ball is entirely irrelevant, though can make the penalty decision slightly harder to sell. The question you've got to ask yourself is did the defender lunge/trip/make any movement into the attackers path causing the contact or was it a genuine...

    Open Age Absolute Disaster

Dylan - keep your head up, we've all been there. I had to abandon my fifth game after I passed my course because it broke out in a 40 man brawl and one of the players I sent off squared up and told me he was gonna 'get me' after the game. Seriously, we've all had games like it, and we all have...

    Spurs 'Pool pens

Totally agree, can't really understand why Sterling or Shawcross were cautioned at the time, other than to 'sell the decision'. Surely it's better to referee to the laws though, rather than to the 'precedent' that was set by last week's ref?

    The "Wrong" Diagonal

I did a 9 a side u15's game in a tournament once with CAR's. In the second half, both CAR's ran to the same touchline (so one was on his own right back, the other on his left back). Rather than adjust them, I just left them to it and ran a reasonably straight line up and down the other side of...
