If your a sucker like me for Fantasy Football, then RefChat are running a league this season. Its quite simple register a team on http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ then once you've setup a team you will need to enter the code that is on the RefChat forum. I could tell you the code, but then if I did that you'd be missing out on visiting a great site. If you think youll do rubbish, dont worry I allways finish last.
On Saturday I gave my quickest ever free kick, just seconds after kick off! That included stopping the watch to have a crafty look as well! I had a bad feeling that after giving a couple more free kicks in the early stages that it was going to be one of those games. However after a few minutes the game settled down. The game flowed on the whole quite well and I was happy with my positioning, as i seemed to be in the right place most of the time. I only had the one caution to issue during the game, which was possibly a bit harsh in ht context of the full 90 minutes. However at that moment with the home side pulling back to 1-1 I felt it was required for match control. It was for a simple trip however I felt that while I could have...
Just spotted this on refereeforum.net, what a great example of a lack of basic knowledge with some pundits. If anyone knows who the pundit is, would be interesting to know how it was recived. The clip is from the 2010 world cup and the opening game between South Africa and Mexico. FIFA have released the Agenda for 126th International Board meeting to take place in March. There are a few interesting points on the agenda, however Im not sure how many of these will be approved. One of the main things is a fourth sub maybe used duirng extra time. An interesting idea, however can we make sure its not a defender! Also if a player uses tape on his socks, it has to be the same colour as the sock! One addition, which I think is a good idea is if a goal is scored direct from a drop ball there is now provision for this. If a dropped ball is kicked directly into the opponents’ goal, a goal kick is awarded If a dropped ball is kicked directly into the teams’ own goal, a corner kick is awarded to the opposing team...

This Sunday is the last day of the premier league season and we have that rare treat of all games being played on the same day. Everything is pretty much wrapped up, however there is the chance that if Arsenal and Chelsea finish level on points and goal differnece nad goals scored, we will have a play off for 3rd place. Is that the most stupid play off ever, I do hope that it doesnt happen as I am sure someone will have the idea that we should have play offs to decide who wins the league as they do in Rugby Union. I know they had them in Holland but they have less European places so it does make more sense. I would rather head to head records come into play which would then see Chelsea finish 3rd. Anyway the appointments Chelsea v...

Spotted this on Dutch Referee’s blog this morning, I used to love Playmobil as a kid! I considered getting these to go in the Tutor kit box, but to be honest they look like they are wearing high viz vests. Sad news coming out of Italy where Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini has died after suffering cardiac arrest during a Serie B game. All Italian league games have been called off as a result. It’s unfortunately not the first time this has happened however in Italy tests on players are more stringent than in other country’s. After all it was following kanu transferring from Ajax to Inter that a heart defect was found. Link to story Filed under: Uncategorized Continue reading...
During last nights non league show there was a discussion about an incident that took place this weekend. The incident being discussed was that of a player leaving the pitch to use the toilet and re entering the field of play. the referee then cautioned him. The ref should count himself lucky at least he went to the loo. Last April I refereed a game in a step 6 league. During a lengthy stoppage two players behind my back relived themselves. I didn't see this but mr assesor did. He observed one leave the pitch, urinate the re enter. The other apparently didn't leave the pitch and urinated on the pitch. Mr assesor put a call in to the FA during the game and thru advised they would expect the following Player leaving the pitch and...

Premier League referee Peter Walton will be moving to the US next month to take up a position working with the MLS. The MLS Officials do get a lot of grief (sometimes valid) however there has been a drive in the US to try and rule out some of the rough play during games. I have though had the impression that the MLS are quite good at being public about their efforts to work with the officials. For a few years there used to be a weekly podcast where they would talk about key incidents during the week and were not afraid to be critical of officials. Continue reading...

Real Madrid player Pepe has a bit of history with kicking out at players (check the 2nd of the clips). However hes taking things to a bit of different level this weekend when reacting to this foul. This was an incident with Pepe a few years ago which he received a 10 match ban!
